LabEdu presents research results on Aprender Linguagem at the VII CONBAlf

13 de July de 2026

Between July 21 and 23, LabEdu participated in the VII Brazilian Literacy Congress (CONBAlf), held in São Paulo, which addressed the interfaces between public policies, research, and the classroom. Paula Cruz, associate researcher, and Maria Grembecki, Methodologies and Projects coordinator, presented the initial results of a study on the implementation of Aprender Linguagem in three municipalities. The study is conducted in partnership with Harvard’s office in Brazil, and is also co-authored by LabEdu director Nicole Paulet.

The research revealed a significant improvement in the quality of teachers’ practices after the first module of the project’s training. The results are evidenced through observation of increased complexity in the actions performed by teachers. Furthermore, the achieved performance was maintained until the end of the training, although the overall average has not yet reached the highest level.

The actions that require greater interaction and attention from teachers to the ideas and speech of the class are the key point of transformation: enhancing dialogue among children, or reformulating and expanding their speech, are what differentiate the highest levels of performance. These are actions without a single formula, that is, more difficult to anticipate in activity planning and examples.

With this, the research makes tangible the changes in Early Childhood Education teachers’ practices during continuous training, emphasizing the potential of formative pathways such as Aprender Linguagem. Currently, the project is implemented in all 217 municipalities of Maranhão, where it is part of the public policy for continuous training for teachers and administrators in the Pact for Learning, a program led by the state’s Department of Education (Seduc/MA).
