For the first time, the Maranhão State Department of Education is running an awareness campaign on the importance of learning in early childhood. The video is being broadcast on government channels during Children’s Week.
The video was the result of an engagement campaign carried out with the support of the Education Laboratory on SEDUC-MA’s Instagram using the hashtag #ListenToChildren: more than 10 videos were posted between June and October, with participation from 29 municipalities.
The State Department relied on the mobilization of the Regional Pedagogical Coordinators (APRs) so that teachers would encourage the recording of a conversation between children and adults based on the following question: What is Maranhão to you?
The idea behind this action was to show the diversity of childhoods across Maranhão’s territory, as well as to raise public awareness of the importance of a fundamental experience for development at this stage of life: speaking and being heard.
On Children’s Day, the initiative was highlighted on Governor Flávio Dino’s social media, reaching more than 12,000 people on the first day alone.
