Labedu Announces New Governance Structure Starting in 2026

13 de July de 2026

Starting in 2026, the Education Laboratory (Labedu) will adopt a new governance structure, strengthening leadership frameworks and creating conditions for agreed-upon management transitions, in alignment with current third sector challenges and the organization’s next steps.

Nicole Paulet Piedra, who until now shared the directorship with Andrea Guida and Beatriz Cardoso, assumes the executive directorship of Labedu for a three-year term. In addition to the executive role, Nicole continues to lead the technical area of Knowledge Production, where she has worked since 2013, and which sustains Labedu’s work in applied research and influence on public policies.

Andrea Guida fully assumes leadership of the Implementation Directorate for projects aimed at strengthening educational policies and continuous educator training, areas to which she has dedicated her academic background and her trajectory in the third sector.

Beatriz Cardoso assumes the role of strategic advisor, with the mission of contributing directly to the articulations and sustaining the pedagogical thinking that guides Labedu’s work, drawing from her trajectory, accumulated knowledge, and her work in the fields of education and public policies.

“We are experiencing a very fruitful moment in the third sector, which calls for structures capable of ensuring continuity, listening, and renewal. The succession is the result of a process built over time, with trust and commitment to the organization’s purpose, which will provide the momentum we need to continue contributing to transformative changes in educational systems. The process we have experienced brings me the peace of mind that we are creating space for consolidation, while at the same time opening ourselves to new ideas that refresh and enhance the work we have built over more than a decade,” states Beatriz Cardoso.

The new governance creates conditions to expand Labedu’s impact, preserving the professional qualities that have marked its history since its creation. The change is anchored in a solid assessment that resulted in a roadmap that will guide Labedu’s work over the next decade.

“This new structure responds consistently to the institution’s mission and strategic plan. These are the elements that guide the production of knowledge about and from the implementation of projects in partnerships with public networks, addressed to the formulation and improvement of educational policies,” highlights Andrea Guida.

Thus, the organization reaffirms its commitment to female, intergenerational, and collaborative leadership, beginning the next three-year period under the executive directorship of Nicole Paulet Piedra, who explains: “Taking on this position is to continue a collective vision, sustained by research, implementation experience, and dialogue with networks. This is Labedu’s DNA since its founding, built by my great partners Andrea Guida and Beatriz Cardoso. Our vision affirms the value of the pedagogical perspective as the foundation for the debate on public policies and recognizes the role of the third sector as a space for integration, dialogue, and qualified contribution to strengthen educational systems. We continue together with the responsibility to strengthen educator training throughout the country.”
