Between 2018 and 2019, the Education Laboratory provided training for the professionals responsible for the learning of children aged 0 to 6 in the 33 early childhood education units in the municipality of Praia Grande.
Over the course of a year and a half, the pedagogical coordinators and school principals in the network took part in monthly meetings aimed at contributing to children’s language development, strengthening practices inside and outside the classroom in order to promote high-quality interactions with and among children.
According to the director of the municipality’s Early Childhood Education Division, the training process has enabled numerous powerful reflections and actions: “The units developed greater awareness regarding reading practice. They began to look at books in a different way, with a more critical reading, concerned mainly with the pedagogical aspect.”
To consolidate and encourage the continuity of the work focused on language development, around 400 teachers attended the project’s closing meetings across the network.
