LabEdu begins partnership to bring the Learning to Study Texts project to municipal schools in the Guaianases region

14 de July de 2026

The activities of the Learning to Study Texts project with schools in the Guaianases region, in the municipality of São Paulo, began in April. The partnership with the Guaianases Regional Board of Education (DRE) enabled the arrival of new materials aimed at 5th-grade teachers in the 40 municipal elementary schools in the area.

At the beginning of the month, the project was launched in the municipality with a meeting with school leadership and pedagogical coordination teams, and a new meeting with teachers is scheduled for the coming days. Throughout the year, five training cycles will be held with teacher representatives from each school, as well as webinars to support classroom activities.

The training materials were adapted to align with the City of São Paulo Curriculum and to focus the training cycles on the study of History texts found in the materials used by students and teachers.

According to Carla Tocchet, LabEdu’s Methodologies and Projects Coordinator, the start of activities in Guaianases represents an important step in the joint development of training practices. “Working with São Paulo’s municipal school network, the largest in Latin America, strengthens a dialogue that values the knowledge already present in schools and makes it possible to adapt the AET proposal to the city’s curriculum. We have reached this moment with a methodology that has matured through experiences carried out in other regions of the state of São Paulo and in Maranhão. Now, we have the opportunity, together with educators in the region, to explore new ways of using language as a tool for teaching and learning,” says Carla.

In addition to DRE Guaianases, DRE Penha will participate with technical representatives to begin discussions on implementation in the region. Currently, AET is also underway in 16 municipalities in Maranhão, in partnership with the state Department of Education.
