Labedu Announces New Governance Structure for 2026

January 26, 2026

Starting in 2026, Laboratório de Educação (Labedu) will adopt a new governance structure to strengthen institutional leadership and establish a framework for planned management transitions. This shift equips the organization to effectively address current non-profit sector challenges and strengthens its position for the coming years.

Nicole Paulet Piedra, who previously shared leadership with Andrea Guida and Beatriz Cardoso, will assume the role of Executive Director for a three-year term. In addition to her executive duties, Nicole will continue to lead the organization’s knowledge production efforts. Since 2013, she has spearheaded this sector, which serves as the foundation for Labedu’s applied research and public policy advocacy.

Andrea Guida will take full leadership of the project implementation department. Her work focuses on strengthening educational policies and teacher professional development—areas to which she has dedicated both her academic background and her career in the third sector.

Beatriz Cardoso will transition to the role of Strategic Advisor. Her mission is to leverage her extensive career and expertise in education and public policy to directly support institutional partnerships and sustain the pedagogical philosophy that guides Labedu’s mission.

“The non-profit sector is currently in a pivotal phase that demands structures capable of ensuring continuity, active listening, and renewal. This succession is the result of a long-term process built on trust and a deep commitment to our purpose. It provides the momentum we need to continue driving transformative changes in education systems. This transition gives me the confidence that we are creating space to consolidate our strategy while remaining open to fresh ideas that will revitalize the work we have built over the past decade,” states Beatriz Cardoso.

A nova governança cria condições para ampliar o impacto do Labedu, preservando as qualidades profissionais que marcaram sua história desde a criação. A mudança está ancorada em um sólido balanço que resultou em um mapa que norteará a atuação do Labedu na próxima década.

“This new design consistently responds to the institution's mission and strategic plan. These elements guide the production of knowledge about and based on the implementation of projects in partnerships with public networks, aimed at formulating and improving educational policies”, highlights Andrea Guida.

With this move, the organization reaffirms its commitment to collaborative, intergenerational female leadership. As she begins her three-year term as Executive Director, Nicole Paulet Piedra explains: “Assuming this role means advancing a collective vision rooted in research, implementation experience, and active dialogue with school networks. This approach has been the DNA of Labedu since its founding, built by my long-term partners Andrea Guida and Beatriz Cardoso. We believe a strong pedagogical foundation is essential for public policy debate. Furthermore, the non-profit sector plays a vital role in fostering integration and providing evidence-based contributions to strengthen education systems. Together, we remain committed to advancing professional development for educators across the country.”
