Labedu begins partnership to take the project Learning to Study Texts to municipal schools in the Guaianases region

April 30, 2025

Activities for the project Learning to Study Texts began in April with schools in the Guaianases region, in the city of São Paulo. The partnership with the Guaianases Regional Education Board (DRE) made it possible to receive new materials aimed at 5th grade teachers from the 40 municipal elementary schools in the region.

At the beginning of the month, the project was launched in the municipality with a meeting with the schools' principals and pedagogical coordinators, and a new meeting with teachers is scheduled for the coming days. Throughout the year, five training cycles will be held with teachers representing each school and webinars to support classroom activities.

The training materials underwent adaptations to align with the São Paulo City Curriculum and focus the training cycles on the study of History texts present in the materials used by students and teachers.

According to Carla Tocchet, Labedu’s coordinator of methodologies and projects, the start of activities in Guaianases represents an important step in the joint construction of educational practices. “Working with the municipal network of São Paulo, the largest in Latin America, strengthens a dialogue that values the knowledge already present in schools and allows us to adapt the AET proposal to the city’s curriculum. We have reached this point with a methodology that has matured through experiences carried out in other regions of the state of São Paulo and in Maranhão. Now, we have the opportunity to, together with educators in the region, explore new ways of using language as a tool for teaching and learning,” says Carla.

In addition to the DRE Guaianases, the DRE Penha will participate with technical representatives to begin discussions on implementation in the region. Currently, the AET is also underway in 16 municipalities of Maranhão, in partnership with the state's Department of Education.
