Between June 3 and 7, the Maranhão State Department of Education held the State Training Cycle of the Pact for Learning and the 1st Training Immersion for Municipal Articulators of the National Network for the Articulation of Management, Training and Mobilization (Renalfa).
The State Training Cycle aimed to develop strategies and actions focused on training professionals working from the 3rd to the 5th year of Elementary School, with an emphasis on learning recovery in Portuguese Language and Mathematics, producing real and positive impacts on progress in the educational indicators of the State of Maranhão, as well as promoting the training of municipal articulators working within the scope of the National Network for the Articulation of Management, Training and Mobilization.
More than 1,000 people participated in the events, including Portuguese Language and Mathematics teachers working at this stage, Renalfa Municipal Articulators, the Pact’s Regional Articulators, Education Managers and Directors of the state’s Regional Education Units, as well as institutional partners, including the Education Laboratory.
Since 2019, Labedu has been working on implementing the project Learning Inside and Outside School, with children from zero to six years old, which was presented in the plenary as a model for implementing continuing education in a collaborative arrangement between the state and municipalities in Early Childhood Education, in the context of the Maranhão Pact for Learning. In addition, this year the project began to be implemented in 16 municipalities in Maranhão, covering 4th and 5th year Elementary School classes. The initiatives are supported by Eneva and the Tinker Foundation, respectively.
Labedu Director Andrea Guida represented the organization during the activities and highlighted the importance of consolidating the collaborative arrangement and ensuring the presence of continuing education within the state’s main basic education policy.
“It is a great satisfaction to see so many committed stakeholders working together to ensure that every child has their right to learning guaranteed. Consolidating these continuing education policies has been important for strengthening the role of those who provide training for teachers, coordinators and principals in each of Maranhão’s municipalities,” she stated.
Another highlight was the delivery of a training workshop for regional pedagogical articulators in Early Childhood Education and state trainers of the National Commitment to Child Literacy, led by Learning Inside and Outside School trainer Cecília Diniz. Education professionals were able to reflect and learn about other ways of thinking about school routines so that environments conducive to interaction with texts are valued, based on Labedu’s methodologies.
The program also included other workshops, plenaries and thematic panels on assessment, methodological strategies for teaching and learning reading and mathematics, intervention practices, among other topics.
