On the 26th, LabEdu participated in the Resilience Point 2024 seminar, organized by the Ukrainian NGO EdCamp, which addressed aspects of social-emotional learning in the context of the impacts caused by the war on education. Beatriz Cardoso, director of LabEdu, presented the project Learning with 7 Fundamental Experiences, which provides tools for adults to promote quality interactions with children, which will be reflected in learning.
The seminar included a session to address international partnerships that will bring referenced materials to children who have suffered the impacts of the conflict on access to school. In addition to LabEdu, EASEL Lab, affiliated with Harvard University, participated, represented by researcher Stephanie Jones.
“Interaction is at the heart of the pedagogical process and should always be pursued to its fullest extent across all layers and instances of the work. It should be valued in the relationship between parents and children, between teachers and families, or between administrators and teachers.
Pedagogical work involves the continuous adjustment of interventions based on listening and feedback. In this partnership, we share cards and videos designed to model and suggest effective interactions,” explained Beatriz Cardoso.
LabEdu established a partnership last year with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to provide content that will support Ukrainian families impacted by the war in promoting meaningful interactions in the informal learning contexts in which they find themselves.
The initiative, carried out in coordination with the European country’s Ministry of Education and with EdCamp, arose from the search for strategies for engaging families with children aged 0 to 6 years and, in this way, mitigating the impact of interruptions in access to schools.
