Regional meeting reinforces collaboration between networks for the implementation of the ELA

December 1, 2025

Representatives of the municipal education departments of Água Fria, Antônio Cardoso, Conceição da Feira, Conceição do Jacuípe, Ipecaetá and Irará participated, in November, in a regional meeting in Feira de Santana of the project Learning to Study Texts (AET), carried out by the Education Laboratory in partnership with the Maria Emília Foundation. The movement closes the diagnostic stage of implementation and lays the foundations for the next phase, when teaching training will actually begin in 2026.

The event brought together technical teams from the six municipalities with the aim of strengthening territorial coordination, promoting the exchange of experiences and consolidating a shared reading of the Educational Scenarios of the Sertão Portal. The materials prepared by Labedu record the process of listening, analyzing, and reflecting on local public education, carried out with technical teams, managers, educators, and students from municipalities throughout 2025. Based on these interactions, the documents consolidate the construction of a shared understanding of the challenges and potential of each municipality.

During the meeting, each municipality presented a symbolic object of its history and identity, such as the berimbau, charanga music, the image of the main church, the straw bag produced by a quilombola community and images celebrating the municipality's centenary. The gesture helped to make the cultural diversity of the territory more tangible, but also favored the creation of bonds between the teams. “When these objects enter the room, people's stories also enter. These reports bring teams closer together, broaden understanding of the scenarios, and strengthen exchanges between municipalities. Interactions like these, built throughout this year, humanize the diagnosis and contribute to it also being understood as a formative space”, highlights Labedu's Methodologies and Projects coordinator Carla Tocchet.

The program advanced in the development of a first version of the training plan for 2026, considering the scenarios discussed, the teaching calendars and the actors involved. The networks reflected on the organization of training cycles and the collective moments planned between municipalities. Collaboration between the networks favoured the recognition of common challenges and the identification of locally built solutions. “With this movement, it is possible to build a plan aligned with local contexts, without giving up consistent training for school teams”, explains Carla.

The Learning to Study Texts (AET) project has been implemented since the beginning of 2025 in the six municipalities, reaching around 100 schools, 500 teachers and 3,700 students. The four-year initiative is supported by the Maria Emília Foundation and seeks to contribute to the consolidation of public policies committed to the quality and equity of education at Portal do Sertão.
