LabEdu expands research partnerships in Chile with visits to universities and educational initiatives

13 de July de 2026

In early October, following participation in the annual ProLEER meeting in Santiago, LabEdu directors Andrea Guida, Beatriz Cardoso, and Nicole Paulet continued research partnerships and experience exchanges in Chile. The visits are part of LabEdu’s cooperation agenda with Latin American partners, presenting its initiatives and learning about different experiences in research, innovation, and implementation of public education policies focused on teacher training.

During the agenda, the team was received by the dean of the Faculty of Education at Universidad Diego Portales, Brazilian professor and researcher Paula Louzano. During the immersion day, the educators delved into the curriculum for initial teacher training in early childhood and elementary education, through exchanges with the coordinators of the respective programs, in addition to visiting classes in various disciplines of the Pedagogy course. LabEdu materials and experiences were shared, especially regarding monitoring and evaluation.

For Andrea Guida, LabEdu director, the international partnership in Chile was fundamental to expanding institutional perspectives. “It was very enriching to learn about models that articulate, in initial training, cycles of study, practical experience, and reflection, in the same way that LabEdu does in continuing education. We brought our repertoire and perspectives to the debate and returned with references on how to further strengthen the relationship between research, practice, and public policies.”

The team also participated in a study group with doctoral students in psychology focused on early childhood, discussing research methodologies on program implementation, including usability, feasibility, and optimization studies of educational interventions. Additionally, they visited Focus, a Chilean consultancy that develops programs in partnership with the public sector and NGOs, and EduLab, an initiative linked to the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile aimed at bringing academic research closer to concrete problems in education, encouraging partnerships between researchers and organizations.

The visits allowed LabEdu to strengthen connections with Latin American initiatives, expanding references on teacher training, public education policies, applied research, and program implementation, strengthening the dialogue between evidence, practice, and public policies.
