On May 28, Centro Ruth Cardoso organized a roundtable discussion on the future of joint social enterprises established by businesses and civil society organizations. The event welcomed representatives from the Brazilian Secretary General, the Group of Institutes, Foundations and Businesses (GIFE), as well as leaders from foundations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Panel participants addressed the need for NGOs to preserve technical autonomy while attracting investments for institutional development and capacity building. The consensus was that extensive conversation and collaboration will be required if support from businesses is to move from a focus on isolated projects to promoting stronger and more effective institutions for social change.
