The challenge of using technology to strengthen (and not replace) child-adult relationships

15 de March de 2017

Last Saturday, Beatriz Cardoso participated once again in CBN Radio’s show on modern parenting Revista Responde, where she discussed the use of technology in various school contexts and its implications for school-family relations.

According to Cardoso, the introduction of new technological solutions must be preceded by an understanding of its pedagogical intentions. Without it, teachers, supervisors and principals face the risk that tools will be misused, creating unintended consequences that may affect children’s learning environments, inside and outside of school. For this reason, Cardoso argued that “balance is key”.

Cardoso cited publications from Laboratório de Educação’s “All Children Can Learn” platform in order to illustrate how technology may not only affect in-school relationships, but also impact the way we, as adults, conduct ourselves with and around children.
